Sponsorship of an individual child gives a face and a story to one’s donation.  Sponsors receive a photo and initial child report about their sponsored child.  Periodic updates about your sponsored child will also be sent to you. 

Unfortunately, sponsors are not allowed to correspond with their sponsored child.  As disappointing as this is, it has become necessary as more AHOPE children are being adopted.  Receiving personal letters from sponsors has resulted in unrealistic expectations of adoption from the sponsored child, regardless of staff explanation to the contrary.

The minimum donation for sponsorship is $35 per month.  Because this amount provides only partial support, children are usually assigned more than one sponsor.  The sponsorship donation is tax-deductible. 

Monthly reminders are not sent, but sponsors paying by check will be sent a receipt for each donation.  Unless requested, receipts will not be sent from our office for monthly donations through Network for Good, where records for tax deductions are maintained for our Internet donors.
