is appropriate. A beautiful “a donation has been made in honor

May I donate supplies and what supplies are needed?
Ethiopia is a land-locked country so shipping is
expensive. There are customs duties on imported goods, including
items for charities, and shipped items or often lost or are refused entry
at customs. At present, all supplies that are sent to AHOPE Ethiopia
travel in the luggage of staff or friends. Our Supplies Coordinator keeps
an updated list of the most urgently needed items and matches donations
with persons with extra luggage space. To donate supplies, contact
the coordinator at supplies@ahopeforchildren.org
Are there volunteer opportunities at AHOPE Ethiopia?
Volunteer workers are welcome. A minimum six week volunteer stay
is required with exceptions for persons with particular skills, mainly
medical professionals. Persons with teaching, social work and nursing
backgrounds are especially needed, but there are all kinds of skills that
are welcome. For an information and application packet, contact our director
of volunteers at ethiopiavolunteer@ahopeforchildren.org

Visitors are welcome at AHOPE Ethiopia. If you would like to include a visit to any of the AHOPE projects as part of your Ethiopian trip, contact the AHOPE for Children office for information on how to set up an appointment.
Are the antiretroviral medications available to the HIV positive children at the AHOPE Ethiopia children’s homes?
Beginning in September, 2005, the anti-retro-viral medications have been available to the children of AHOPE through a program supervised by the Barlow Clinic in Addis Ababa, a project of World Wide Orphan Foundation. In addition, AHOPE Ethiopia has a pediatrician and nurses on staff to monitor the day-to-day health issues of the children.
How can I adopt an Ethiopian orphan?
Adoption Advocates International was the pioneer USA agency to provide adoption services for both healthy and HIV positive orphans in Ethiopia. AAI has been joined by several agencies from the United States and Europe that provide Ethiopian adoption programs.
Is the adoption of an HIV positive Ethiopian orphan possible?
HIV is now considered a manageable chronic disease
and HIV positive Ethiopian orphans may be adopted by citizens of the United
States and many other countries. A by-invitation-only confidential peer
support group of families that have adopted, are in the process of adopting,
or are considering adopting a child with HIV has been established.
If you are seriously considering the adoption of a child with HIV and
